Banned in Tibet

Each of these items tells a story about everyday life in Tibet.

When you wave a flag or give a t-shirt as a gift, you can help our work to inform others about the true situation under China's occupation.

Banned in Tibet
  • Owning, waving or flying the Tibetan national flag can result in imprisonment and torture. Yet it remains a symbol of protest and unity for Tibetans.
  • Calls for freedom have been shouted out or written by many Tibetan protesters.
  • Tibetans have been imprisoned for possessing Dalai Lama images or teachings.
  • Writers, musicians, filmmakers and teachers have all been jailed in Tibet; Tibetan communication is one of the things China fears most.
