Collection: Mala Beads

Mala beads are a traditional Tibetan Buddhist meditation aid and areused to keep count while reciting a mantra. The full-length mala has 108 beads in total, representing the 108 earthly desires, or afflictions.

Our mala beads come from the Federation of Tibetan Cooperatives in India (FTCI). FTCO works with and supports 15 Tibetan cooperatives (made up of over 24,000 Tibetan refugees) across India to build towards strong, sustainable Tibetan settlements. These cooperatives work on different areas such as agriculture farming, cultural preservation, and employment generation. They work under fair trade principles and strive to achieve sustainability for their producer groups, grass root level workers, artisans and farmers in the supply chain.
